    Old Mission Capital, is a quantitative proprietary trading firm and is currently recruiting a Trading Research Analyst to join our Chicago office. This trading research analyst will be responsible for conducting research and monitoring news around the globe while conducting targeted research on specific securities to discover new investment opportunities. You’ll produce regular reports to the desk lead. You will also be staying up to the minute with the market and reporting those updates to the team. You will be analyzing data sets to influence trading decisions. This person will not be trading but would be viewed as a key contributor to the team.

    Responsibilities

    • Identify and analyze news/events/information that will have an impact on our trading group(s) and report pertinent information
    • Support traders by being the sole point of contact for conducting research and following all global macro events that could impact the price of certain securities
    • Explore trading ideas by analyzing market data and market microstructure for patterns
    • Ability to adjust to the market conditions and work efficiently in small collaborative teams
    • Collaborate and work directly with the traders on analyzing, developing new ideas/tools to analyze data for patterns

    Qualifications

    • Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field
    • Strong quantitative, analytical, research oriented and problem solving skills
    • Programming skills in Python is preferred and familiar with Bloomberg and/or Reuters
    • Exceptional communication both written and verbal and has the ability to handle multiple tasks in a time sensitive, fast paced, collaborative, collegial environment.
    • Successful candidates will have a passion for the financial market, working with large amounts of data and are strategic thinkers with excellent communicators.
    • Familiar doing research on domestic/international equities
    • Strong detail-orientation with ability to manage multiple work streams.
